Join Dr. Shah to see, learn and experience hands on, how to make 3 types of simple and common Indian breads. Everyone gets to enjoy the fruit of their labor with a fresh healthy Indian lentil and a green vegetable dish.   • What are Omega 3 fatty acids and why is it important to eat them?
  • What are the different components of your cholesterol profile and which foods can you eat to improve each one of them?

Ayurvedic Cooking for Fall

Join Dr. Shah in cooking two types of dosha specific vegetable and lentil khicharis. Khichari is a traditional Ayurvedic dish, made with mung beans, basmati rice, seasonal vegetables, ghee and spices. It detoxifies the body and balances all three doshas: vata, pitta and kapha. Learn which one will work best for you. You will also be given a list of 10 herbs and spices which will keep you healthy and energetic throughout this season. Ayurvedic Cooking Workshop

Come experience what eating according to your constitution can do for you! Ayurveda believes that each one of us is unique and has unique nutrition needs. Food and Spices can be combined in tantalizing blends that taste heavenly and nourish us body and soul. This workshop is meant to be a celebration of deliciousness and healing properties of food that is right for you.

Program for the Evening

  • The evening will start with constitution diagnosis for each participant.
  • Pratibha Shah will then briefly go over optimal foods for each constitution type.
  • Instructors will lead the preparation and cooking of a four course meal.

Pranayama: Using Breath as Transforming Life Force

Breathing is unique in our bodily functions as having dual control. It is involuntary in that we breathe all day every day without paying the least attention to our breath yet when we pay attention, we can prolong, shorten, hold and accelerate our breath over a wide range. Yoga Sutra teaches over 250 breaths that can help us cool or warm, sleep or focus, calm or become vigilant and take away cravings and fill yearnings in our heart. The workshop teaches the basic five breaths that can help you manage your mood, efficiency and irritability with minimal effort and great effect.

Workshop may be canceled if we do not have a minimum of 10 people sign up for a date.
